Activity #1: Blogs and Wikis in the LMC

Wikis and blogs are widely used Web 2.0 tools, and can have many applications in the library media center. View the following blogs and wikis. Consider ways you could use them in your LMC. Create your own wiki at Wikispaces. Explore the possibilities and begin creating your wiki.

Blog: Develop one way to use a blog and one way to use a wiki for the upcoming school year and post to your blog along with the link to your wiki.

Activity #2: Digital Book Shelves

Digital bookshelves are great ways to share books reviews with others. Working with a partner, visit Library Thing and Shelfari. Examples from meida centers below also include blogs which integrate a "shelf" into the blog. Choose your favorite, sign up, and create your online book shelf. Add it to your blog. Consider ways you might implement a digital book shelf into your library curriculum. Consider the start page you created yesterday along with Pageflakes we reviewed. Can you put your self on your start page?
Blog: Comment on your blog about how you will use the digital book shelf in your LMC.

The possibilities for the library media center are endless. With a partner, take a look and see what interesting and creative ways you can use Flickr and Flickr Mashups in your LMC.

Blog: Comment on your blog about your favorite Flickr tool, and how you might use it in your library media center.
